02 $$ [action for anywhere] (fourth wall!)

[ He's dreaming. He has to be.

But even once Valmont's done rubbing his eyes in disbelief, they're still there. All twelve talismans, lined up nice and neat on his nightstand.

Well then. He still doesn't know what's going on with this world, but if it brought the talismans here, to him... he might not dislike it quite so much as he did before.

And so, if you see a guy this weekend levitating around town, occasionally shooting fire out of his hands and/or laser beams out of his eyes, and looking giddier than anyone here has ever seen him... Well. That's probably V. Feel free to talk to him/try to keep him from blowing up something of yours. He's in a good mood. He might listen. ]

[Been there, done that. Read Chapter 26. He easily dodges the attack and yawns.]

I can cast better spells in my sleep.

All right, you bloody do one, then!

[ He tries to hide his frustration at the fact that his attacks are doing nothing, rather unsuccessfully. Who does this man think he is, not getting killed by them? Honestly, it's very rude. ]

If you insist...

[Hmmm. So many spells to choose from. Which one will be the flashiest...? Hell, he could use his weakest spell and it'd still put Valmont to shape.

DS turns towards a building that the other men partially destroyed. The air around him grows heavy, the palm of his right hand glows, and his eyes turn white as he utters a single word:]

DAMNED!

[A "beam" extends from his hand and the building is disintergrated in the blast, nothing but a smouldering pile left in its wake. Even some of the concrete around the building has been torn to pieces. The wizards turns back to Valmont, grinning.]

If I had used it on you, not even those talismans would've remained.

[ ...Well then.

He does his best to pick his jaw up off the ground. What actually happens if the talismans are destroyed? Valmont doesn't know, and he really doesn't want to find out. Not that he'd especially be able to, given that he'd be destroyed along with them. And that would probably be unpleasant. ]

That was... impressive. [ Said in a very please-don't-kill-me sort of tone. ] I'll, er... I'll let you take over the destruction here, then, shall I? [ His eyes are darting here and there as he tries to figure out the best way to escape, should this man decide to turn his powers on him after all. ]

[The Absol rolls her eyes. While she may be annoyed, her trainer is finding this all very amusing.]

Typical small time villain. The strong, handsome, unbeatable hero shows up and you immediately run away with your tail between your legs. Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed.

But killing you would be a bigger waste of my magic than the demonstration I just did.

[Valmont's lucky he doesn't have any bat wings on him. DS would make him his bitch in a heart beat. =|]

I - what? Small time?! I'll show you who's small time!

[ Oh dear. This will not end well. Buuut Valmont is an idiot, so here, DS, have a super-strength punch aimed at your face. Small time, really! ]

[... Well, lucky for Valmont that DS is about as skilled as an average guy in hand-to-hand combat. The punch hits and even knocks him back. Oh, but you shouldn't have done that. He brings a hand up to his cheek, his eyes glowing red as he glares at Val.]

Don't push me, pretty boy. Unless you have a fucking death wish.

[ Amazing job pissing off the guy who's demonstrated he can and will disintegrate you. A+. Valmont hurriedly floats a safe(ish) distance backward. ]

Well, don't - don't bloody insult me, then! You can't tell me you didn't have that one coming!

Insult? Hah! I'm only telling you the truth. Besides, look at you! You're backing away in fear right now. If that doesn't say small time villain, I don't know what does.

[Yes. Keep it up and he might start casting a spell.]

Well - what does that make the man who just got punched in the face by a small time villain, then? I would assume it makes him even smaller time!

[ Just gonna keep... inching backward... ]

If you didn't have those little charms of yours, your hit would've have done anything.

But since it seems you just can't learn your lesson, I'll just have to waste my magic after all.

[Might wanna run, Valmont. Because he brings his hands forward and begins to glow again as he says his incantations.]

Zazard, zazard, scron-rono sook...

[He's stalling juuustt a little to give V the chance to get away.]

I - !

[ Oh no.

And he is out of there. Thank god for super speed, and also for being a gigantic wuss. Whatever this man is going to do to him, he doesn't plan on sticking around long enough to find out. ]

[Once Valmont's out of sight, DS stops the spell and laughs. Oh, that was fun... Time to see what else this place has to do for fun aside from terrorizing people.]

Well, that makes more sense then.

[He just smirks a bit at that.]

It was recently overrun by them where I'm from. At least part of it.

[France smiles graciously, turning to head back inside.]

Of course. We have a selection. Do you have a preference?

[He opens the door, holding it for Valmont and waving a hand towards the empty tables.]

Please be seated.

Earl Grey, if you don't mind. Or whatever this world's equivalent is thereof. [ Clamperl Grey? He doesn't know. He just wants some decent black tea, okay.

Valmont sizes up the tables and opts for what looks like the least charred one. Let's just pretend he didn't blow this place all to hell a minute ago. ]

If you insist.

[ Have some more laser eyes, then. Valmont's pretty sure he's got the upper hand in this fight. ]

[He does, unfortunately. Micchy takes a few more shots at him with the gun, but he's wearing down. Maybe he should withdraw...]

[As it turns out, it's not, because there's another dagger flying at him.

And another, and another.

Apparently she's just been carrying these things around for a situation like this. she was also getting closer to Valmont's position.]

[France's face screws up. Cue fussiness.]

You're in for a disappointment. There's no Bergamot orange here, so, while the tea itself is actually quite nice, it's not the right balance of flavour. I'll bring you the tins of a few of our tea selection. Just a moment.

[He disappears briefly into the kitchen, putting together a tea tray, grabbing the relevant tea tins, and selecting one of the croissants he'd baked about an hour ago. He puts it on a plate and grabs a selection of jams and preserves as well as room temperature butter.]

[He rejoins Valmont with all of this, setting the tray on the table with the tea tins closest to Valmont.]

Clamperl Grey is what is closest probably to Earl Grey, but I don't find the orange flavour pleasing personally, although it's quite popular even so. Typically, I find the unblended leaves here to be quite good. I like the Dragonair first flush personally, but if you're looking for something a bit sweeter, go with the second flush.

[ He winces. ] My sympathies. It was bad enough with merely two demons at once; I can't imagine what it would be like to be overrun by them. What sort of demons are you dealing with, then?

No Earl Grey? I've changed my mind. This world is hell after all. [ He sighs dramatically and slumps forward onto the table. Valmont takes his tea very seriously.

He revives somewhat when France brings out the selection, though, studying the tins intently. ] Of course they all have bloody stupid names... I'll defer to your tastes, I suppose. First flush it is.

[ He gives another sigh, looking at the talisman still clutched in his left hand. ] Why couldn't one of these have been the tea-summoning talisman? [ It'd be a lot more useful than astral projection, that's for sure. ]

[ And that is suddenly a whole lot of sharp pointy things coming at him. But he's a little more ready for it now. He dodges again, vertically this time, trying to blast the girl with his eye beams as he floats higher. Maybe that will distract her from throwing things at him. Really, how rude. ]

[ Some people are smart. ]

Highly sensible of you. [ He returns to his work, sending another building up in flames. ] I'm glad to see someone else has proper appreciation for a little destruction. You would not believe how many people have tried to fight me today - most with their own ridiculous powers, no less. [ Honestly, it's like a guy can't carry out an insane rampage in peace anymore. ]

Are you sure you don't want to surrender? Perhaps if you do we can discuss why you're so hostile towards me. Really, just because I defeated you in that battle earlier...

[ He pauses in his lasering for a moment, just in case the boy wishes to answer. ]
